Recently we have our new kittens born. They are now healthy and stunning. However, it was not easy for them coming to this world. Their mother Eve had the problem of dystocia. She discharged the amniotic fluid long time ago but could not give out the kittens. So we decided to bring her to the vet. Because the vet was not free and the condition (not too much amniotic fluid and no suffer) of Eve was fine after we had monitored. So we accept the vet's suggestion of doing dissection next morning.

Luckily Eve gave birth of three kittens and now two of them are survive. The most important is that Eve and her babies are all healthy and strong. Though I was told that ventrotomy is very common, it was the first time for me. In the whole course, we got the help and good suggestion of the vet and an experienced breeder, so that we could make sensible choice. We really recognized the difficulty have to be faced by a breeder with this case. It was a successful and meaningful experience.

Yet we have spayed Eve too. Though she is the only breeding queen of us, we believe it can keep her from suffering and ensure no more risk to be taken. We have to stop breeding the wonderful British Shorthair for a while. We will try to find a good breeding queen in the near future and hope to go on our careful and responsible breeding program.

You can see that we can only give out 2 to 3 kittens in three year. We have not earned a dollar from breeding and selling cats. There are too many people here think breeding pedigree cats is easy and a money making industry. In Hong Kong, it is true that there are many unregistered (registration to real cat organizations) breeders; some of them make money from their cats. However, we never think breeding the best quality pedigree cats is easy and money making. In case of health, it may demand the breeder much in budget and also the time. We believe most breeders in the world love their cats and kittens, they will not have spare for their babies. We are too. So, we never think transfer the owner of our kittens is a business. Of course, it is a must for the new owner to share the expense which includes the pre-birth and post-birth stuffs.

I encourage cat lover to pay for the cat which is the best. You should keep in mind that it is not buying a good from a shop. It is your choice! You have the choice to choose what you think the best! It is also the reason for us starting to keep pedigree cats. So, it is important to learn making right choice for yourself and your pets. I always encourage people to adopt homeless cats too. If someone can handle to keep a cat, he or she should be able to choose. We have two domestic cats too; one is a stray kitten which was picked from the street. Also, we have adopted an abandoned Devon Rex too. We did all kinds of adoption and also bought. We never think there are differences among. Our aim is to keep all cats healthy and strong.

How a cat can live happily? I have several suggestions:

1. Spay or neuter
2. Feed properly
3. Keep indoor
4. Vet check

Stop breeding non-pedigree and stray cats now! Every tailored pedigree cats have their clear reasons for adoption by people. They are lovely, friendly and charming. Unfortunately, not every non-pedigree cat or street cats are suitable for adoption, they always have to be killed. It is too unwise to breed them.

So, make your right decision now!
