Unfortunately few of them can find the best vets for them. Why? It absolutely is not the lacking of good local vets. The key is the wrong concept to the vets of major local  pet owners. They use to ask which vet charge the less, which vet is the easiest to be got along with, which vet is boosted the most, etc. Few of them will be care of the actual need.

In my opinion, I believe the vet is as important as my family doctor. They are both responsible to monitor our health. I have never thought the cheaper is the better. Actually it is hard to find a local doctor who will reduce their consultation fee for the purpose of attracting patients. It is useless and also not a normal practice. So, finding a vet for your pets is just equal to finding a good family doctor for yourself. I will consider much more  if the vet is paying enough concern to my pets.

I never never never believe the stupid opinions about vets on the internet.  No matter how many people tell which vets are the best, it doesn't mean you will have the same experience with such people. Of course most opinions posted on the web may be false too, especially in Hong Kong. It is not reliable to hear such opinions.

For a wise pet owner, I believe you should ask what you and your pets need. For example, you can consider a vet who is specialized in cats for your cats. You should also pay attention to the experience of the vets. Are they eligible to be a vets? What experience do they have? What diseases do they specialize in? etc.

Yes they are the 'professional' questions. But it is noting different from doctors. We will consider and need a special doctors if our pets have special sickness. Actually it is a common sense.

After you have found your ideal vets. What will happen? For me, I will cooperate with them as close as possible. I will accept their professional opinions as much as possible. The only condition is their devotion to my lovely pets. If they cannot put enough effort to help us to keep our pets healthy, I would like to find another ones. So, we must recognize the responsibility and ability of them. We need a vet who really knows what role they are playing. Otherwise, the irresponsible vets may pose harm to your pets and even you.

I understand no one is perfect in this world. But I must state that we must keep confident to our vets as we are working together. The vets won't know much about your pets as they do not live with the pets. The owners and the vets should trust each other, so that it is much more easy for the vet to give you good ideas. However, some local people do not know this and therefore the pets are always hard to avoid suffering.

I believe most Hong Kong vets are professional and well educated. Sure they may be not experience in all animals. Especially in the field of pedigree cats, most of them lack the experience. However, we must find out the real roles of the vets and let them to be helpful. I believe most of the vets can learn much more in the future, finally they will contribute to the whole of  local pets lovers and pets.

On the other hand, local pets lovers lack the good 'environmental education' which means they lack the  perceive of the role of vets. Also they overlook the importance of the vets to the health of our pets and us.

We must try to learn more! Everyone is responsible to know how to act rightly and doing meaningful things. We must keep on making progress.
