SARS is going over in Hong Kong Actually there is still no conclusion in which viruses are the real killers. The lack of epidemic prevention knowledge among Hong Kong and China citizens and the medical staff has accelerated the spread of the disease. All of them are making us trapped in a predicament, not only in scope of the public health but also the economy. From very beginning, my family and the company I work for have carried out very strict protocol to prevent the infection. We all believe it was effective as now we are not infected. The outbreak of SARS in Hong Kong has induced a very high death rate (7~10%) among the infected people here. We are so sad to hear so many innocent people passed away. With the great effort of our government and all responsible Hong Kong citizens, the pestilence seems to be abated. Hong Kong is now safe. We believe it is really safe as most people have become aware of the personal and public health. It is true that Hong Kong now is cleaner than before. Of course, many scientists found that there are not related between the virus spread and domestic cats. So, it is justly no problem to keeping cats. However, we don’t understand why our government has announced policy to stop keeping cats in public housing? Pedigree cats lovers here need more chances Fortunately most Hong Kong cats’ lovers or breeders are not living in such kind of accommodation. Of course most pedigree cats’ owners in Hong Kong are well educated and able to keep their cats in a good condition of health. We have experienced several big cat shows, with the help and mentor of many foreign and local breeders, so we now have a group of well educated and trained breeders. I am proud of being one of them! Like many other breeders in the world, we wish to promote the pedigree cats. We really hope that our effort won’t be wasted. It is always true that the good and bad are always intermingled. There are few deviate people all along. They need good mentor and friends help. I believe most young people here are willing to learn. The key is who are willing to teach. We need chance to learn. I personally hope the experienced breeders oversea can offer more chances to our local breeders or cat lovers. I must say that Hong Kong is very different from Mainland China. Most Hong Kong young people are well educated and have good view over the world. Hong Kong is a well developed city and has great diversity of cultures. It is also why we resist to transfer our kittens to Mainland China. Even though the people in Mainland China is making their progress, but there is still a big big gap compared with Hong Kong. With my own experience, most of them are money minded and have strong bias on selling cats. Of course some people there are really doing well in cats, the pity thing is only very few. You can simply get to know how good we did in breeding and keeping cats from the cats show held by Hong Kong Cats Lovers Society every year. Though we have only one show each year, we put our great effort on it. The sponsors, the cats’ owners, the breeders, the citizens or even the tourists also came to join. You are cordially invited to visit the cat show in Hong Kong. It is generally held in December, before two week ends of Christmas. Welcome! Yeah Hong Kong now is safe from SARS and now is cleaner.
