Cats have always been in my life

Hello all!! I am Raymond from Hong Kong. Thank you very much for visiting my web page.

I graduated from HKU(The University of Hong Kong) with a Honour Bachelor degree in Biotechnology. From the study I enriched my knowledge in not only the animal physiology but also the latest manipulation technology in genetic. After graduation, a local publishing company hired me up, which is publishing the most popular specialized magazines in several fields. One of them is about pets. With this coincidence, the knowledge in cattery and kennel could be acquired and I think that it is very useful for me to becoming a breeder.

With the accumulation of experience of keeping cats, I and my wife, Rachel, decided to start a breeding program on cat. I have started to keep cats for over three year and learn much more intensively. Then I started to find my first breeding stock.  I concerned the standard in term of health. Therefore I tried to contact the foreign breeders. Fortunately I found a very nice cattery in Australia. Not only they could provide me a pair of good stock and also sufficient information about breeding. I am still keeping tight contact which allows me to seek for helping hands.

The prefix "Kiwidom" of our cattery was a combination of my two non-pedigree cats 'Kiwi' and 'Dom'. From this two cats I have learnt much about keep cats and found the extreme differences between pedigree and non-pedigree. Also they arouse me  the  importance of pedigree.

Our Ethic

We started our cat breeding plan after a serious consideration and hope to help more people to own their lovely pedigreed cats. We  never have any deal with pet shops. We bought our breeding cats from reliable breeders  directly by ourselves. Even our Sardross Bingo, we imported him from Australia directly too. Bingo has never been in pet shop and was not bred by the people who were running pet shop business in Hong Kong. We understand what the people with pet shop did, so we have strong resistance to making connection with those people. We have never done any deal or resale of our cats with the pet shop. And, we have never send our cats to mainland China. We won't sell cats to mainland China until there is an eligible way to transport under the law. For the breeding rights, we only transferred breeding cat to someone who was referred by reliable breeders in Hong Kong. They all are working carefully  for responsible breeding, not mill type.

In 2004, we were attacked by a series of libel from people of two local catteries. We had no alternative to break the relationship with them and made clear what business they are doing. Previously we believe that all Hong Kong breeders can treat others friendly but it did not work well. Fortunately, there are still some great people who are working hard for the local fanciers selflessly. This unhappy experience did not stop my aim to promote pedigreed cat and the breed British Shorthair in  Hong Kong.  We are willing to help people to start their lives with cats and eager to share my experience in keeping healthy cats. We have a message board which is useful for sharing and spread of news. We understand there is no perfect cat and even ever winning cat, we know we have much room to learn. We are open minded to ask overseas or local breeders and the vets for enhancement of our knowledge.

MY recent message:

From 2006, we have a new plan on breeding pedigree cat. We hope to change the breed we are working on. As our local bred Kiwidom Buzz Lightyear and Kiwidom Monarda got very good results from the show held in December 2005, we believed that we did our best on local British Shorthair. Also, many local BSH breeders acquired many good blood lines and the worse and worse condition of selling non-pedigreed cats in Hong Kong. As what we did in 2003, we will stop breeding cat for a year and see if there is any good change.

Thank you all for visiting my website.
